What age range is SMART Fun for?

The SMART Fun Program is designed to meet the learning needs of children from ages 3 to 6years with games being designed to be able to be modified to suit the participants as the facilitator identifies.

Do children need to be able to read or write?

The SMART Fun Program is aimed at verbal children with early pre-literacy skills who may be able to draw simple pictures and can pay attention for at least a few minutes at a time.

I’m a parent. Where can my child access the SMART Fun Program?

The SMART Fun Program can only be delivered by facilitators who are trained and registered.
Facilitators who are trained and certified in delivering the program work in a variety of early childhood centres or early childhood intervention settings.

You can also ask your local education or early childhood provider if they are able to offer the SMART Fun Program at their centre.

I’m an education or early childhood professional. How can I offer the SMART Fun Program to children that I work with?

Online facilitator training is required so that the SMART Fun Program can be delivered in your setting.

Can I purchase a SMART Fun Resource Kit without completing the online training course?

Completion of the training is required to be able to purchase the SMART Fun Resource Kit. Once training and registration is completed, an additional kit may be purchased upon request.

I’ve been trained in SMART Fun. How can I access additional child materials?

Additional child, parent and teacher materials can be purchased from our website HERE.

Is the SMART Fun Program only a group-based intervention program or can I use it with children 1:1?

The SMART Fun Program has been designed as a group-based intervention. However, SMART Fun is also successfully used clinically in 1:1 settings.

Is the SMART Fun Program covered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme?

The SMART Fun Program can be funded by an NDIS support package. It can be NDIS-funded in individual sessions, school-based sessions, family sessions and also in groups. A registered provider can offer individual or group SMART Fun sessions to help an NDIS participant achieve their goals related to areas that might include behaviour, emotion regulation, social skills and improving home and peer relationships.

Is the SMART Fun Program covered under Medicare?

Children who have a Mental Health Care Plan or Chronic Disease Management Plan can use this funding for the SMART Fun Program group sessions run by registered Medicare providers (e.g. psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists).

The SMART Fun Program can be implemented to achieve Mental Health Care Plan or Chronic Disease Management Plan goals related to behaviour, emotion regulation, social skills and improving home and peer relationships.

Is there a version of SMART for adolescents or adults?
